John Kurtz, designer and producer of New Moon, is a nationally recognized expert in the complex field of Oriental rugs. Through his PBS series, John has introduced millions of viewers to the world of Oriental rugs. Each rug in the collection is an original design. A trained artist, John sketches and paints eachrug design before they are handwoven in Nepal from the most spectacular materials in the world -- handspun 100% Tibetan wool and, in a select few, luxurious Chinese silk. As a founding member of the RUGMARK foundation, New Moon works to abolish illegal child labor. New Moon was founded in 1993 and is a small, family-owned company dedicated to the highest standard of design and workmanship.

The Pacific Collection was established in 1997. Our lines are hand-woven in the villages around Central and Northern Afghanistan with hand-spun wool using natural dyes and traditional weaving methods. Our designs are re-creations of highly collectible antique rugs such as Heriz, Feraghan Sarouk, Bijar, Oushak, Sultanabad, Tabriz, Serapi, and other tribal weavings. They are made in sizes 3x5 through 12x16 feet.
